The Women’s Empowerment Shoebox (WES)
Last year, I introduced the Women’s Empowerment Shoebox (WES) on my Facebook page. Drawing upon my background as a Doctor of Clinical Social Work, I brought a psychological perspective to the WES, emphasizing its symbolic representation of femininity. The shoebox features a shoe positioned at a 45-degree angle on top, creating a striking three-dimensional visual effect and symbolizing the concept of “Stepping Up.”
Symbolic Elements and Decorative Details
The design includes balls at the base of the shoe, which signify the daily challenges that women encounter. Additionally, a ball placed behind the shoe represents obstacles that have already been overcome. The sides of the box may be adorned with jewels or messages, adding both whimsical and reflective qualities to each piece.
Customization and Durability
Shoeboxes vary in size from two to six inches. Both the shoebox and the shoe can be hand-beaded or decorated with glitter, allowing for customization to fit specific themes or requests. The WES can also be color-coordinated to complement special events. To ensure lasting quality, the exterior decorations are securely sealed and the interior is carefully lined for moisture protection.
